coast - a short love story

Coast started because we kept asking: can you actually show what it looks like when two people find each other after going silent?

Matt and Elsie reconnect at a strange moment, both cut off from the person who matters most. The film follows what happens when you let someone see you again after that kind of gap.

We crowdfunded it and hit the road with a tiny crew. We wanted mess, spontaneity, space for the actors to just exist as these people. Some of our best scenes happened because we got lost or because someone said something unscripted that cracked the story open.

We didn't pitch this to studios. We made it with friends because we wanted to, because it felt like the kind of story we'd want to watch.
